Mumbai News Highlights: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that nearly 60 lakh hectares of land in the state have been impacted in heavy rain and flooding over the past week. A full assessment of the damage is still underway, and a final aid package for farmers will be announced in the next cabinet meeting, with the aim of disbursing the funds before Diwali, he added. Speaking after the state cabinet meeting, Fadnavis said that the government has already declared and disbursed Rs 2,215 crore for crop damage that occurred in July and August. “The state has also requested a flood relief package from the central government and will send a final proposal once all damage assessments are complete,” he added.

Today’s weather: IMD has forecast moderate rain in city and suburbs with thunderstorm and lightning for parts of Maharashtra including Marathwada and Vidarbha.
