The Mumbai police Wednesday booked a Chartered Accountant (CA) for allegedly sexually harassing a woman colleague a number of times between 2020 and 2023, officials said.

The 37-year-old used to send her obscene pictures, expose himself and touch her inappropriately prompting the woman to eventually approach the police station, they added. So far, no arrests have been made.

According to the police, the victim, a married woman who worked at an office in the western suburbs of the city, alleged that the man would send her his obscene photographs and other porn videos on her phone.

“She told the police that when the duo was in the office together, he tried to touch her inappropriately and disrobe her. And when he could not do that, he exposed himself. When the woman shouted at him, he would call her lewd remarks. She alleged that the accused even threatened to take revenge on her husband,” said an officer.

Based on her complaint, the local police registered an FIR under sections of sexual harassment, stalking, using criminal force on a woman and intimidation.

An officer said that the police would summon the accused to record his statement.

“We will also try to gather further evidence like recording the statements of fellow employees and procure CCTV footage if the office has one,” he said.
