The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), which offers interstate and intrastate bus services, has seen a favorable response to its newly launched online ticket reservation system since its introduction on January 1, 2024. Between January 1 and May 20, 2024, nearly 12.92 lakh tickets were sold through the new system, compared to 9.75 lakh tickets sold during the same period last year—a significant increase of over 3 lakh tickets. Currently, the system issues 10,000 tickets daily, said a senior official.
With an aim to provide state transport tickets to passengers in the comfort of their homes, MSRTC has facilitated online ticket reservations on its official website. Passengers can also book tickets through the MSRTC Bus Reservation app on their mobile phones. Significant updates were made to the ticketing system on January 1, 2024, eliminating many defects and making the online reservation process easy and convenient for passengers, the official added.
