The heavy, incessant rain on Wednesday was caused by an air circulation off the state’s coast.

Heavy rainfall till Friday,says IMD
The heavy, incessant rain on Wednesday was caused by an air circulation off the state’s coast. The IMD says the circulation has activated monsoon currents over the land, and expects it to bring widespread rain across Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra till Friday.
“An active phase of monsoon has finally been triggered caused by an upper air circulation off the South Gujarat and North Konkan coasts. Heavy rain is expected in the city as well as the coastal stretch, and we have given a 48-hour warning to ports and fishermen,” said K Satidevi, director of IMD Mumbai.
