MMRDA to invite RFQs,shortlist next yr

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decide to invite requests for qualifications for the Sewri-Nhava Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and plans to announce the shortlisted bidders by February-end next year.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decide to invite requests for qualifications (RFQs) for the Sewri-Nhava Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and plans to announce the shortlisted bidders by February-end next year.

The MMRDA will hold a conference before the applications on December 14 for the prospective applicant bidders to raise queries or make suggestions related to the project. MMRDA will respond to these queries by December 26.

“With this link,the vast areas of the main land would be available for expansion of the city in the future,” said Metropolitan Commissioner Rahul Asthana. “This will also boost development in Navi Mumbai,Raigad and the surrounding areas while ensuring speedy movement of the proposed international airport in Navi Mumbai.” The MMRDA has set February 7 as the due date for applications.

The 22-kilometre Mumbai Trans Harbour Link,which involves the construction of the longest sea bridge yet in the country,will be built at a cost of around Rs 8,800 crore. The road will have interchanges at Sewri to connect to the partially-constructed Eastern Freeway and at Chirle to connect to the NH-48.

The MMRDA is looking at implementing the project through a public-private partnership model.
