(Source: File)The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved the allotment of a 3,400 sq m plot in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for its new administrative headquarters — Paryavaran Bhawan.
MPCB’s new facility is expected to enhance coordination within government departments and improve the implementation of environmental policies across Maharashtra. MMRDA has also provided scope for additional built-up area, as per the state government’s July 2024 notification.
“MMRDA has always focused on responsible land management, and this allotment to MPCB aligns with our commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure. With MPCB’s new administrative building, environmental governance will be more efficient, fostering better coordination for pollution control and sustainability,” said Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
The development also aligns with the state’s broader goals of urban renewal and eco-conscious growth. The inclusion of Paryavaran Bhawan in BKC’s commercial landscape is seen as a step toward making the financial district a hub for both business and sustainability.
Plot No. C-79 in the G-Block of BKC will house the proposed building. MPCB will develop a 13,600 sq. m. commercial-use structure under a lease of 80 years, with a permissible FSI of 4.00. The lease premium is fixed at ₹468.60 crore, with a phased payment plan – 25% within two months and the balance over the next ten months.
