The Amboli Police on Saturday called another model for questioning to investigate if she knew the whereabouts of 28-year-old Delhi resident Karan Kakad, who has been living in Mumbai for the past one year and has been missing since March 6.
The police had earlier booked Vijay Palande (alias Karan Sood),Dhananjay Shinde,Manoj Gajkosh – who had been arrested in the Arun Tikku murder case – besides small-time actress and model Simran Sood for the disappearance of Kakad, who, the police suspect, may have been kidnapped.
Palande,Shinde and Gajkosh were arrested by Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Tuesday for allegedly murdering Delhi resident Tikku (62) at his sons apartment in Andheri (West) last week.
The model called for questioning has been identified as Rozlyn Khan.
Police said,Khan was called after Kakads brother told police officers that Khan had met his brother several times in the past, and officers received information that Khan knew Simran Sood.
We called her to ask her a few questions about the case. We wanted to check if she knew anything about the case. After asking her a few questions,we allowed her to go, said an officer.
Khans lawyer said the police questioned her in connection with the case after Karans brother had alleged that Kakad and Khan were in a relationship.
Karans brother had told the police that Khan and Karan were in a relationship. The police wanted to confirm that and called her for questioning. My client told the police that she met Kakad about four times and not very often,as his brother is claiming, said Khans lawyer R Siddiquee.
Siddiquee claimed that the questioning was routine, and that Khan was allowed to go after the police asked her a few questions about the case.
We have told the police whatever we knew about the case, said Siddiquee.
The police had registered a missing person complaint when Karans brother Hanish approached the police saying they could not get through to his phone.
Hanish had secured CCTV recordings from Inorbit Mall,in which he found two men accompanying Kakad.
On Wednesday, when Hanish saw photographs of the Tikku murder case suspects,he approached Amboli police and showed them the CCTV footage, saying one of them was in the footage obtained from the mall.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Pratap Dighavkar confirmed that police had called Khan for questioning. Investigations are on and we have called many people for routine questioning, he said.
