(File Photo)The Mumbai board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is set to launch a lottery for over 2,000 homes in prime locations such as Tardeo and Juhu by the end of this week.
Among these houses are three houses in the higher income group category, which MHADA has priced at Rs 7.5 cr. These high-end houses had not found any takers in the previous lotteries launched by MHADA.
The lottery results are expected to released by the end of September or the beginning of October.
Last year’s lottery featured 4,082 houses. This year’s draw includes about 428 houses from the previous stock. These houses have been returned due to non-payment of fees, or lack of interest due to high costs. Besides, many of the houses did not receive a response.
Of the 276 houses allotted for the the higher income group in this year‘s lottery, approximately 156 are new, while the remainder are from previous lotteries. The response to this lottery will be evaluated, and decisions will be made regarding unsold houses based on the outcome.
The 2,000 houses are located in various areas, including Kanamwar Nagar in Ghatkopar, Tagore Nagar in Vikhroli, Tardeo in Mumbai Central, and Juhu.
Of the 2,000 homes, approximately 300 are from the ongoing Pahadi Goregaon project, with the remainder coming from various redevelopment initiatives sanctioned by the Mumbai Building Repairs and Redevelopment Board (MBRRB).
Last year, MHADA’s lottery for 4,082 homes attracted over 100,000 applications, illustrating the high demand compared to the limited number of available properties.
Meanwhile, MHADA has eliminated human interference in the entire application process. The applicant can now submit the application just with a click of a button.
For digital application, seven documents need to be submitted for finalisation of applicants’ participation.
