Mephedrone worth Rs 300 cr seized from Nashik factory
Interestingly, the factory is believed to be owned by one Bhushan Patil, the brother of Lalit Patil, who recently made news for allegedly running a drug cartel from a Pune-based hospital.

In one of the biggest drug busts in recent times, the Mumbai Police raided a factory in Nashik where mephedrone was allegedly being manufactured and seized 150 kg narcotics worth Rs 300 crore in the international market.
Interestingly, the factory is believed to be owned by one Bhushan Patil, the brother of Lalit Patil, who recently made news for allegedly running a drug cartel from a Pune-based hospital. The police are on the lookout for the brothers to question them in connection with the case.

According to police, on August 8, the Saki Naka police arrested two persons for allegedly selling mephedrone alias MD, a synthetic drug considered to be a cheap substitute of cocaine. The police arrested one Anwar Sayyad (42) after 10 grams of mephedrone was found in his possession.
Eventually, during the course of the case, the police arrested six persons from Dharavi. When the police started tracking the chain, it led them to one Arif Shaikh, another Dharavi resident, who was said to be holed up in Hyderabad.
DCP, Zone X, Datta Nalawade sent a team to Hyderabad from where Shaikh was nabbed with mephedrone and firearms. Further, the police arrested three more persons — one from south Mumbai and two others from Shil Phata in Thane — who informed them that the narcotics were purchased from one Zeeshan Shaikh (34) from Nashik Road.
A police team camped in Nashik and eventually arrested him. Shaikh led the police team to a factory in MIDC where he said the mephedrone was being made. The police team with help from Nashik police found nearly 133 kg mephedrone from there.
Sources said that a prima facie probe has revealed that the factory is linked to one Bhushan Patil and his brother Lalit who is currently absconding. Lalit had made news recently when the Pune police alleged that while he was lodged in Pune’s Yerawada Central Jail in October 2020 and later admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for ‘treatment’, he allegedly ran a drug cartel from his hospital ward with the help of an aide and a canteen staffer. Police sources said Patil contested the Nashik civic polls in the past.
