The MIDC police on Sunday arrested a man for murdering his girlfriend.

The MIDC police found the body of Shalu Sameer Yadav alias Kamna Chaudhary (35) in her Suprabhat Society flat in Andheri after Samar Yadav (30) approached the police claiming that his girlfriend was not opening the door of the house.

“Chaudhary worked as a waitress in the Royal Restaurant and Bar located on the Andheri-Kurla Road while Yadav was employed at a garment factory in Marol. Both of them were married and had children in Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata respectively. They were staying together in a rented flat and their families did not know about the relationship. Yadav used to demand money from Chaudhary for alcohol and the couple would often fight over this,” said police inspector B Gurav of the MIDC police. Phone calls from clients at the bar also irritated Yadav.

On December 29,both of them were drunk, and after a nasty fight Yadav allegedly banged her head against a wall. She succumbed to the internal injuries. He abandoned the body and approached MIDC police officials on January 2 claiming that she was not opening the door. However, after he was grilled by the police,he confessed to the crime.

According to P Suryavanshi, senior police inspector of the MIDC police,“We have registered an offence under section 302 (murder) of the IPC against Samar and would be presenting him in court.”
