Man arrested for murder bid on lover’s husband

According to the Worli police,Jaiswal,a Thane resident,had known Mamta when the couple had been staying in Kalva a few years back where the accused was working in a printing press in the same locality. “At that time,Jaiswal had struck a friendship with Mamta. After some days,he had claimed to be in love with her and asked her to marry him. However,Mamta had refused saying she was married and had rebuffed his advances,” said Senior Police Inspector Bharat Worlikar from the Worli police station.

Worlikar said,on Friday afternoon,Jaiswal came to the Mashi’s house and again allegedly tried to convince Mamta to elope with him. When she refused again citing same reasosn,Jaiswal lost his temper and picked up a knife lying nearby. He then went to Bablu,who was asleep,and started assaulting him with the knife.

“In the attack,Bablu got stab injuries on neck,chest and stomach. When Mamta tried to save her husband,Jaiswal assaulted her also,causing a minor injury on her arm. A frightened Mamta ran out of the house and cried for help. Soon,some residents gathered there and one of them informed the police. The cops arrived soon and arrested Jaiswal from the spot,” said Worlikar.

An injured Bablu was taken to the KEM Hospital,while Jaiswal has been charged with attempt to murder and has been sent to judicial custody.
