Man arrested for molesting two minor girls at his shop: Police

Police said the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the two girls, aged eight and six, were playing outside their home in Kandvali. The accused called the two to his shop and then pulled the shutters half down.

Police immediately lodged a complaint and a team was dispatched to nab the accused. During questioning,the accused admitted to committing the offence. He was placed under arrest on Sunday morning after sustained interrogation.

Kandivali Police has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly molesting two minor girls from his neighbourhood.

Police said the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the two girls, aged eight and six, were playing outside their home in Kandvali. The accused called the two to his shop and then pulled the shutters half down.

“He played songs and danced with the girls, and during this time, he took off his pants and flashed the minors. He then inappropriately touched one girl and made an obscene gesture at the other,” said a police officer.

After the girls returned home, they broke down in tears. They informed their parents about what had happened, who then approached the Kandivali police station.

The accused has been booked under sections 354 (molestation), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8 (sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment) of the POCSO Act, said another police officer.
