A sessions court on Monday acquitted a man of all charges in a rape case. Shah Mohammed Hasan Makrani (24) had allegedly raped an 18-year-old girl on June 8,2006,and the victim had approached the police when she got pregnant. The victim, who hails from Meerut, was staying at Nirmal Nagar in Bandra.
According to the prosecution,Makrani befriended the victim by promising a job and met her several times. On June 8,2006,he took her to an isolated place and allegedly raped her.
But the victim, who had already married to the accused by the time when the case came up before the sessions court in December 2009,told court that she had consensual sex with Makrani and he had not raped her.
After receiving the victims complaint, the police had reportedly approached Makrani and convinced him to get married to her.
She was already three months pregnant by that time.
However, based on the victims deposition, the court acquitted Makrani of all the charges.
