Maharashtra: MSRTC to save Rs 2 lakh daily due to toll waiver
Currently, MSRTC operates around 2,000 daily trips in and out of Mumbai, including 300 trips by Shivneri buses.

With the state government announcing toll waiver for light motor vehicles at five entry points to Mumbai, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), which sees around 2,000 of its buses entering the city daily, will save Rs 2 lakh per day.
The toll waiver applies to light vehicles, including ST buses, at key entry points to Mumbai—Vashi, Dahisar, Mulund, Airoli, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Road —after the Mahayuti government made this announcement in its last Cabinet meeting.
Currently, MSRTC operates around 2,000 daily trips in and out of Mumbai, including 300 trips by Shivneri buses. Each round trip requires the payment of a toll fee of approximately Rs 100, amounting to Rs 2 lakh in toll expenses per day and around Rs 60 lakh per month, an MSRTC official said.
With this waiver in place, commuters are hopeful that the savings will eventually translate into reduced ticket prices.
