Maharashtra govt to expedite issuance of caste validity certificate, 60 officials promoted as additional district collectors
The move, according to state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, will help students and job aspirants from backward classes who have been facing delays in getting the certificates.

In an attempt to expedite the process of issuing caste validity certificates, state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Tuesday promoted 60 officials as additional district collectors with immediate effect.
The move, according to the minister, will help students and job aspirants from backward classes who have been facing delays in getting the certificates.
It had also affected the candidates who availed the quota for contesting the elections. The 60 officials who were shortlisted for promotion had been waiting formal orders for the last three years, the minister said.
Of these 60 officials, 29 have been made presidents of the caste verification committees across Maharashtra.
Bawankule said, “The caste validity certificates are important for students and job seekers. The lack of manpower for expediting the process had badly the affected aspirants as well as those in government services from backward classes.”
“When we came to power on December 5, we had set the target to fill all the vacant posts for expediting the process of issuing caste validity certificates within 100 days and it has been achieved.”
