The Versova police have nabbed five people for the murder of art director Shahid Khan. Khan’s body was found near the Khandala highway on March 16. The Versova police on Saturday arrested one Manisha Thakur,a waitress in a bar,who they claim had an affair with Khan. She is the main accused in the case and has been handed her over to the Lonavala police. On Thursday the police also arrested friends of Manisha — Abhishek Singh,Bharat Tadkar,Mohit Sharma and Chandan Singh, who were also allegedly involved. The motive behind the crime was a love triangle between Khan,Manisha and one Sunil Singh. Sunil was allegedly jealous of Manisha’s relationship with Khan. The police are expecting to arrest him along with three others in a day’s time.

“Khan was a regular at one Mood Bar where Manisha was a waitress. Manisha would get a lot of money from him in return of her affections. She also had an affair with Sunil,” said Police Inspector K Gadekar of Versova police station. “However Khan had stopped giving her money as his wife probably suspected the affair. Sunil who had always been jealous of Khan decided along with Manisha that the time was right to get rid of him. Manisha convinced Khan to come with her to Lonavala with a few friends. On the way he was murdered. Abhishek took Khan’s credit card and shopped for worth Rs 90,000 along with Mohit and Chandan. Of all the accused,Mohit has claimed that he had not gone to Lonavala,” Gadekar added.
