Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the BJP will never allow Congress to even touch the Citizenship Amendment Act ( CAA).
Shah termed the apprehensions raised by the Opposition over Constitution as “false narrative” and said that the Narendra Modi government will neither change Constitution nor discontinue reversation rights for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs.
Addressing an election rally at Akola in Vidarbha region, Shah said, “Congress party says it will scrap the CAA. However, as long as the BJP is around, it will not let the Congress even touch the CAA.”
Akola, where BJP has fielded Anup Dhotre as its candidate, will go to polls on April 26.
At the election rally, Shah asked the crowd gathered if they were ready to return Modi as PM for third term and ensure NDA wins 400 plus seats.
Directing his attack on the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, Shah said that Uddhav Thackeray who leads Shiv Sena ( UBT) cannot look beyond his son Aaditya Thackeray’s interest. He also alleged that NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar had failed Maharashtra during his ten-year tenure as the Union minister in the UPA government.
“MVA is not going to do any good for Maharashtra,” he asserted. Dismissing the apprehensions voiced by Opposition over Constitution, Shah said, “Modi government will never change Constitution. It is a false narrative set by rivals against BJP.”
“The Modi government used the majority mandate in Parliament to abrogate Article 370. The Centre used its majority to address the terrorism and make India stronger and secure. The practice of instant triple talaq was brought to an end. The false narratives of opposition are attempts to mislead people. But it won’t work,” he added.
According to Shah, the Congress tried to create hurdles in construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. “Overriding these challenges, PM Modi, through sheer determination, ensured the magnificent temple was constructed,” Shah said,
Drawing a parallel to the Kavad Yatra annually taken in Akola by worshippers of Lord Shiva, Shah said even Modi has undertaken a journey for development and growth of India.
Urging people to give huge mandate to enable third term for Modi, the Union minister said, “The abrogation of Article 370 was necessary to integrate Jammu and Kashmir with rest of nation.”
“The Congress, for past seven decades, retained Article 370 like an ‘illegitimate child’. The people are happy with Centre’s decision to scrap Article 370,” he said.
Shah further alleged that the UPA government in which Sharad Pawar was alliance partner had failed to firmly deal with terrorism from Pakistan.
Whereas, BJP through surgical strike gave a bold message when Pulwama and Uri attacks happened, he added.
