Mumbai: Less work and more talk in BJP-ruled states impacting development, says Shiv Sena

In an editorial in the party mouthpiece, Saamana, the Sena said the “balloons with the development gas burst when the time comes”. “The number of investors have reduced in Gujarat and that has put the Gujarat model of development under suspicion,” it said.

The Shiv Sena Tuesday slammed the BJP after Karnataka took the lead in industrial investment proposals ahead of Gujarat and Maharashtra. In an editorial in the party mouthpiece, Saamana, the Sena said the Gujarat model of development has come under suspicion.

The editorial said the “balloons with the development gas burst when the time comes”. “The number of investors have reduced in Gujarat and that has put the Gujarat model of development under suspicion,” it said.

It further said that Karnataka has received 25 per cent of the total investment proposals in the country. Instead of Maharashtra and Gujarat, the foreign investors are attracted to Karnataka. In the first nine months of 2018, Karnataka has received investment proposals worth Rs 83,247 crore while Gujarat and Maharashtra have received proposals worth Rs 59,089 crore and Rs 46,428 crore, respectively, said the editorial.

“Karnataka has a non-BJP government for the past 10 years and Maharashtra and Gujarat have BJP-led ‘Make in India’ governments. Still the industrial and economic condition of both the states is in disarray. Less work and more talk is being seen in the BJP-led states that is impacting the development,” said Sena.

“Modi brings heads of the various nations from across the world to Gujarat to do the marketing of Swarajya. But, except the bullet train project, which new industry has come? The bullet train project is coming by acquiring the farmers’ fertile land and is a damaging decision,” it added.

Sena further said that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have been saying that infrastructure is increasing in Maharashtra, but the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Corridor and the Metro do not translate into industrial progress.
