With it being the last Sunday before the May 20 polls in Mumbai, political parties pulled out all the stops to meet voters at their homes, places of worship and area meetings. Parties also roped in star campaigners to address voters and convince them to vote for their parties.
From Sunday morning, Union Minister and BJP leader, Piyush Goyal who is contesting from the Mumbai North seat, carried out door to door campaigns in the Malad, Kandivali and Borivali areas.
Goyal visited the Koli hamlets of Madh and Gorai on Sunday afternoon. In an attempt to strike a chord with the locals, Goyal was seen wearing the traditional Koli caps.
Meanwhile, Bhushan Patil, Goyal’s opponent and Congress candidate from Mumbai North held a mega road show in Dahisar and followed it up with door-to-door visits to households in his constituency.
Candidate Ravindra Waikar of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena in the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency visited several large housing society complexes in Andheri East. Shiv Sena UBT candidate from South Central Mumbai Anil Desai held a dialogue with Catholic community voters from his constituency through a meeting held in Salvation Church, Dadar.
His rival and Shiv Sena (Shinde) candidate Rahul Shewale exercised with locals from Matunga in their open gym and emphasised on the ‘Fit India’ movement promoted by the BJP.
To promote their candidature from Mumbai North East seat, both BJP and the Shiv Sena (UBT) called upon senior functionaries from their respective parties.
BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena(UBT)’s Aaditya Thackarey addressed a gathering in the evening at Vikhroli’s Kannamwar Nagar and Gadhav naka in Bhandup respectively.
Mumbai Congress Chief Varsha Gaikwad, MVA’s candidate from the North Central seat took a morning walk in Hiranandani Gardens, Powai and interacted with citizens who came to exercise and later conducted ‘Jan Samvad’ Padyatra from Milan Subway Vile Parle (East) to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Andheri (East).
BJP candidate for Mumbai North Central, advocate Ujjwal Nikam on Sunday morning reached out to representatives of slums situated on defence land. He addressed a public meeting along with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Chandivali, followed by a padyatra in Kurla.
In Kalyan, Dr Srikant Shinde, son of CM Eknath Shinde, met traders and members of Medical shops association as well as auto unions in Dombivli. His opponent and Sena UBT candidate Vaishali Darekar-Rane visited and interacted with members of a church in Ganesh Nagar in Kandivali.
