Congress leader Kripashankar Singh has been booked under various Sections of the Arms Act for possessing live ammunition exceeding permissible limits.

Congress leader Kripashankar Singh has been booked under various Sections of the Arms Act for possessing live ammunition exceeding permissible limits.

The case has been registered against Singh at the Nirmal Nagar police station in Bandra (East).

Police said, the case was filed late on Friday night after a Special Investigating Team (SIT) found nearly 400 live rounds of ammunition from Singh’s residence in Bandra (East) — when it was attaching properties on an order of the Bombay High Court — on March 2 last month.

The police had then checked the arms licenses given to Singh and concluded that Singh had about 110 bullets more than the permissible limit for his licenses.

The team said it found 14 rounds of a 12-bore gun,72 rounds of a 0.32 bore weapon, nine rounds of a 7.65 bore weapon and 15 rounds of an 8 mm weapon from Singh’s residence.

An officer of the Mumbai police confirmed that Singh has been booked under the Arms Act for possessing the ammunition. “The ammunition is beyond permissible limits and he has been booked,” the officer said.

Singh has been declared as a wanted offender in the case but senior officers said it would be up to the investigating officer of the case to arrest Singh.
