Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Tuesday said that Bharat Rashtriya Samiti chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, who is trying to expand his party’s base in Maharashtra, is “standing on a slippery pitch” in his home state Telangana.

“In the last one year, the BRS led by KCR had held many rallies in Maharashtra. They made huge promises to the farmers in Maharashtra. But the ground reality is something else. KCR is himself standing on slippery pitch in his own home state Telangana,” Fadnavis said.

The BJP leader was addressing a rally in Hyderabad’s Domalgudu as part of a day-long campaign for the assembly elections in Telangana.

“The BRS has realized it is facing difficulty in gaining public support as the BJP is giving them tough fight.

Therefore, KCR has already started supporting some of the Congress candidates,” he claimed.

Fadnavis further alleged that there is a “huge mismatch” between the promises made by KCR and reality.

“During my tenure as Maharashtra chief minister (2014-2019), the Telangana leader had approached us for water. The surplus water from Maharashtra was flowing into sea. So, we helped them to avail the water. They built the dam and barrages. Much to our shock, the barrage which they constructed to channelise surplus water from Maharashtra to Telangana developed cracks. Now, we fear that if these barrages break because of shoddy work, it would lead to floods in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur,” Fadnavis said.
