High Court relaxes Kasliwals bail conditions as woman who alleged rape still missing The Bombay High Court on Wednesday relaxed rape accused Abhishek Kasliwals bail conditions and allowed him to reside in Mumbai till the police trace the missing victim. Since there has been no headway in finding the 52-year-old victim,Justice Bhosale held that this cant be kept waiting endlessly as the police have been trying to trace the victim for past one year. The court on numerous occasions has sought progress report from the police detailing the efforts made by them to trace the victim. Police,in their latest report, have stated that teams have been sent to Kolkata and Belgaum and efforts are being made to trace the victim. The court had earlier cautioned the state police that it wont hesitate to issue contempt proceedings due to lack of progress in finding the victim in spite of specific directions from the court earlier to protect the victim. Meanwhile, the court has granted liberty to the police for modification of order once the victim is traced. Bail conditions (of staying in Delhi) have been relaxed and Kasliwal can now stay in Mumbai till the victim is traced, said his lawyer Samsher Garud. The Worli police had earlier informed the court that they are closing in on certain leads as to the whereabouts of the victim in the alleged rape case. In a report filed before the court, the police had revealed that the victim who had gone missing was in a relatives place in Hyderabad in October. This information came to light when a police team based on certain leads had gone to Hyderabad in November. The police was informed that she was there but had left a month earlier putting an end to the trail. The report, however, states that the police will probe a different angle which has surfaced from a witness testimony. A witness had informed the trial court that the victim was receiving pension from a shipping company where her deceased husband used to work. The investigating officer has now written a letter to the Directorate General of Shipping to find out the source of the pension and also the name of the bank from where its being withdrawn. The court is currently hearing a petition filed by Kasliwal seeking to be in Mumbai permanently due to business concerns.
