Jill Biden cancels visit to KEM hospital

US Vice-President Joseph Bidens wife Jills visit to KEM Hospital was cancelled at the last minute Wednesday.

KEM security head Sandeep Patil said the second lady was to visit the hospital in the morning. The KEM team beefed security,cleared the parking area and made all necessary arrangements. They were informed in the afternoon the visit had been cancelled.

KEMs academic head Shubhangi Parkar said,The vice-presidents wife wanted to see the child care section and maternity ward. I do not know why she cancelled her visit. But there was no tussle between her team and our security.

The US Consulates Mumbai spokesperson said,Questions should be directed to Indian authorities as security arrangements are coordinated with them.

Additional Commissioner of Police (central) Praveen Salunke said police were not aware of any disagreement between the hospital and US security officers.
