Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar on Thursday accepted three separate privilege motions filed by Minister for Rural Development Jaykumar Gore. The motions were directed against Saamana Executive Editor and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar and journalist Tushar Kharat of YouTube channel Laibhari for allegedly defaming and maligning his image in relation to a 2017 case.

The minister took this step after being accused of sending nude photos to a woman in 2017 and allegedly harassing her. Gore clarified that the court had already acquitted him in 2019 and expressed concerns that the issue, which had been settled years ago, was being revived with false allegations to tarnish his reputation.

Gore stated that Raut had damaged his image and insulted the state Assembly, prompting him to file a privilege motion against him. Similarly, Gore accused Rohit Pawar of making baseless allegations and also levelled similar charges against Tushar Kharat.

He appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present in the state legislature, to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. “If I am found guilty, I am prepared to face any action,” Gore said.

Gore further stated, “Some elected representatives, both inside and outside the Assembly, conspired against me after their electoral defeat. This is an attempt to undermine my leadership, especially since I have risen to this position without any political background.”

In response to the motions, Speaker Narwekar decided to refer all the three privilege motions to the House Privileges Committee for further probe.
On Wednesday, both Raut and Pawar had raised the issue based on media reports and sought an explanation from the government.
