Jamsandekar had a premonition

Did Kamlakar Jamsandekar know that his life was in danger?

Did Kamlakar Jamsandekar know that his life was in danger? A witness told the special MCOCA court that sentenced underworld don Arun Gawli and his men to life on Wenesday for the Shiv Sena corporator’s murder that 25 days before his death Jamsandekar had taken ill seriously and his blood pressure had shot up. He claimed Jamsandekar had perceived a threat to his life from accused Bala Surve and one Sahebrao Bhintade. This statement was accepted by the court.

The court also accepted the prosection claim that the conspiracy was hatched nearly nine months before the murder and that the hand gun used was procurred as early as in August 2006,while the date to execute the plan was decided in December 2006.

On March 2,2007,around 5 pm,Jamsandekar was shot by sharpshooters from point-blank range at his Asalpha,Andheri (East),residence. The murder was a fallout of his alleged political rivalry with the accused.

The prosectuion said Gawli was hired for the murder. Since he did not want to involve his men in the killing, which had larger political repurcussions,he approached men from other gangs. After a few turned down the offer,Vijay Giri was approached who accepted the supari (contract to kill).

The judgement also says several plans to kill Jamsandekar were abandoned due to a lack of conducive environment before the hit on March 2,2007.
