Interrogation of the accused arrested so far in the 2013 Lohariya murder case, as well as further investigations, have thrown up names of two- three fresh suspects, and the Mumbai Police Crime Branch is now on the trail of these people. Sources said that these suspects acted as accomplices in the planning and execution of the crime.
Navi Mumbai based builder Sunilkumar Lohariya was shot dead outside his Vashi office on February 16, 2013, and the Crime Branch has so far arrested 14 accused in the case, including retired police inspector Emmanuel Amolik. The Crime Branch is now on the trail of some new suspects in the case, whose names have come to light during inquiries .
“A couple of new names were taken by the accused during their interrogation and we are trying to find out more about them. These suspects, according to our investigations so far, seem to have acted in the capacity of accomplices in the crime and are most likely to have been part of the three teams that were formed by Amolik to execute the actual murder. We are making inquiries with multiple sources to find out more about these people,” said a Crime Branch officer. Meanwhile, Suresh, who is currently in judicial custody, had approached the Supreme Court asking for bail on the grounds that his father is very ill and has no one else to take care of him. The hearing on the matter is scheduled for October 18.
