‘Injured in firing’,colleague charges Rane son Nitesh with attempt to murder

“We have registered the complaint and Nitesh Rane has been named by the victim. We are investigating and the case will be transferred to Khar police,” said Amitabh Gupta,Addl CP (West).

Shaikh alleged he had been called to Rane’s office by two partymen to discuss a tour he had taken to Nashik. “Nitesh Rane’s personal assistant Nitin Vardhanarayan and Swabhiman spokesperson Santosh Kubal called me up and asked me to meet Rane at his office. When I went in,his bodyguards were in the room. I tried to offer him sweets as his brother Nilesh has been blessed with a son. I bowed to touch his feet but his bodyguards beat me up. Rane abused me and as I started running away he drew a revolver out of his drawer and fired. The bullet brushed my cheek,” Shaikh said.

“I ran to my car and was chased by around five of Rane’s men. At Powai,I went to the hospital.”
