45-year-old found murdered in shop
A 45-year-old man was found murdered in his shop near Ghatkopars Shivmangal market area on Monday night. The victim has been identified as Shankar Thakkar,a resident of Four Bungalows in Andheri. Thakkar had suffered head injuries. He seems to have been strangulated. There is a mark on his neck and he also had a head injury. We have found the cable that was used to strangle him and also the brick,which was used to hit his head. He may have been killed between 4 pm on Saturday and 10 pm on Monday, said a police officer. The victims brother has filed a case at the police station. We have not identified the killers yet and have registered a case against unknown persons, the officer added. We are checking if there was any missing persons complaint registered in any other police station. Further investigations are on.
Another pipeline bursts,this time in Mahalaxmi
A day after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claimed that it has repaired the twin Tansa pipeline burst at Nana chowk junction,another pipeline burst in Mahalaxmi on Tuesday. An 18-inch pipeline supplying water to parts of Delisle Road,Worli and Currey Road,burst on Tuesday afternoon. The burst occurred on a railway property,behind a supermarket store in Lower Parel. According to officials,the pipeline was old. “The repair work of the pipeline is underway and will be completed by tonight. The water supply will not be affected, said Ramesh Bambale,chief engineer,hydraulic department. Last week,a portion of the same pipeline had developed leakages. It took the civic body almost a week to detect the source of leakage and fix it. Many areas of South Mumbai had no water or contaminated water for over a week.
