MMRDA invites bids for solid waste plant in Taloja
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids to develop a solid waste management plant at Taloja on a public-private partnership basis. The company that gets the contract will build and operate the plant for the processing of up to 2,500 tonnes of solid waste per day and operate it for 25 years after the due tendering process,the MMRDA said in a statement. The MMRDA has invited bidders to submit documents on or before December 21. We will give any body who requires dumping services access to this plant and can also use it for our own purposes, MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar said. The construction of the plant should hopefully start by January or February next year.
Missing boy found dead near creek
The body of a two-year-old boy was found near a creek in Goregaon (West) on Monday morning.
According to the police,the boy,Prince Patel,went missing while playing outside his house on Sunday. His family lodged a missing persons report with the Bangur Nagar police around 8 pm and the boys body was found around 7 am on Monday. It was found near a creek,around 500 metres away from his residence in Mahalaxmi Chawl in Goregaon (West). The boy was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital but was declared brought dead. The family suspects foul play. They said it was not possible for Prince to cover the distance by himself. We have not found any injury marks on his body and the preliminary post mortem report revealed he died of drowning. Based on the report,we have registered a case of accidental death, said Ramesh Kadam,senior inspector from the Bangur Nagar police station.
September 22 declared International CML Day
To spread awareness about Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML),September 22 has been declared International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Day by patient organisations across the world. September 22 or 9/22 signifies the translocation of the chromosomes 9 and 22,which cause CML. On this day,Friends of Max,a peer support group comprising more than 14,000 CML survivors in India,will be one of the many international CML groups which will spread awareness about the diagnosis,timely treatment and care for patients living with CML.
