ADMISSION of students belonging to the reserved categories will not just stand cancelled if found submitting a false category certificate, they will not be allowed to appear again for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The IITs have, for the first time, issued a notification that categorically warns students of the dire consequences of submitting invalid or wrong category certificates.
In case at any stage (even after admission),it is found that the category certificate submitted by a candidate is not found valid, then the offer of admission shall automatically stand withdrawn and the candidature shall stand cancelled for all purposes. Such a candidate shall not be considered for admission at all, even if he/she has a rank in the common rank list, says the notification.
It adds that in the event of such cancellation, due to submission of an invalid/false certificate, the candidate shall not be eligible to appear in any subsequent JEE on account of giving a false declaration/undertaking and for submitting a false/invalid certificate.
As per regulations, allotment of seats in any of the reserved categories Scheduled Caste (SC),Scheduled Tribe (ST),Other Backward Classes (OBCs) is provisional and is confirmed only after receiving the verification reports from the district magistrates/issuing authorities concerned.
Depending on the seat allotted to a particular student belonging to the reserved category,a fake certificate given by one student may affect the career and aspirations of another student and the number of students getting affected may be anything between one and 50. Hence, for the first time,we have issued a cautionary note which says clearly that students will not be allowed to appear for any future JEE if they submit wrong or false (category) documents, said Prof G B Reddy, organising chairman of IIT-JEE 2012,IIT Delhi.
The JEE results were declared on May 18 and online filling of choices by the qualified students is from May 19-June 10. While the last date for submitting category certificates was June 1,the notification says candidates who want to withdraw their undertaking or certificates for various reasons, have been given time till June 10 to send their requests.
