A 47-YEAR-OLD government counsel died by suicide in his chamber within the court building in Beed district on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Vinayak Chandel, an Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP), is alleged to have left behind a note. The local police have taken an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the matter.
A senior officer said that Chandel, appointed to the Wadwani court earlier this year, allegedly hanged himself. The discovery was made by court staff upon arrival at around 10:45 am. Later a suicide note too was found nearby in which Chandel has mentioned some names.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Following this the local police station was informed and an ADR was taken in the matter.
An official said that as of now no FIR has been registered in the matter. ” So far the last rites have not been carried out. Once that is done, if the family approaches us, we will register a complaint,” the official said.
