The state government has indicated that it will take action against the Sanatan Sanstha if its role is established in the assassination of veteran Communist leader Govind Pansare.
At the centre-state discussions held on the matter, it was made clear that action will be taken if links of the right wing group in the killing of Pansare are established.
What has come to light so far is the role of Sameer Gaikwad who has association with the Sanstha.
Top officials monitoring the case said, “We are exploring all aspects to see what and who have plotted the killing.”
Highly placed sources in the home ministry said, “So far, we have reports about Sameer Gaikwad’s involvement in the assassination of Pansare. His association with Sanatan Sanstha is being probed in detail to ascertain if there were more people involved in plotting the killing of Pansare.”

The sources said, “There is no ambiguity as far as state government’s decision is concerned. If the role of Sanatan Sanstha is established in the killing of Pansare, it would recommend to the centre to take stern action.”
A senior official in the home department said, “From the beginning, we have been told categorically, anybody involved in the crime will have to be punished. Irrespective of any ideological leanings, associations or connect, whosoever is responsible for the crime as individual or groups or organisation will be punished.”
