It will be futile exercise if kunbi certificates given without proper documents: Taywade

Jarange Patil has demanded the government should immediately give consent for giving kunbi certificates to all Marathas across Maharashtra.

“Individual Marathas, even after being equipped with kunbi certificate, will have to get required documents for validity. In the revenue records or education records of at least one family member dating back to 1967, there has to be mention of ‘kunbi’. It can be parents, grandparents, etc. In the absence of revenue/education record, the kunbi certificate will not be valid. It will not be considered for government jobs or educational institutions,” Taywade said.

According to the OBC leader, though the SCs, STs and OBCs have been sanctioned reservation for decades, several community members who make it to professional courses and colleges have to face disqualification for failing to provide validity proof.

“The Maratha organisations asking OBC to accommodate their reservation concerns does not make any sense. The state and central governments have learned retired judges, legal and constitutional experts who are working on the complex issue,” he said.
