The bus driver has been booked.

The police said the three men were heading to Dadar market, along with two others on another two-wheeler, to buy flowers for their housing society’s Holi celebrations when the accident took place.

The police said Bodke died on the spot, while Gorde and Shinde were rushed to a nearby hospital. A senior police officer stated that the two injured are recuperating under treatment.

A case was registered against the bus driver Mateen Iqbal Sheikh, 29. The Bhoiwada police apprehended him at the accident spot. “Sheikh was arrested later on Thursday. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. His bail plea was rejected by the court,” Kadam said.

As per the police, preliminary investigation indicated that the accused was not driving under the influence of alcohol. “Although we collected his blood samples and sent them for further testing, it appears that Sheikh was speeding on the bridge and lost control of the bus, causing it to hit the two-wheeler,” an officer said.
