Flight from Dhaka to Dubai makes emergency landing in Nagpur after smoke alert

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka to Dubai made an emergency landing at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport after a smoke alert was detected in the aircraft’s hold by the pilot. Officials confirmed that no fire was found during inspection.
Flight BG 347, carrying 396 passengers and 12 crew members, landed in Nagpur at 10.45 pm on Thursday after a full emergency was declared. The pilot was alerted by a fire alarm and immediately informed the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC). The System Operations Command Centre (SOCC) was also notified, and a decision was made to divert the flight to Nagpur.
After landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay, and all passengers and crew were safely deboarded. Fire safety personnel from the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MIL) conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft hold, while the cargo in the rear hold was offloaded.

A firefighter team from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) was deployed at the airport as a protocol to avoid any potential fire incident. “A team of firefighters was deployed as soon as we got the information. Following the protocol, the team was deployed as a precautionary measure, but no fire was reported by the team,” said Bhimrao Chandankhede, Chief Fire Officer.
Arrangements had been made for passengers to continue their journey to Dubai later in the evening. Another Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight was scheduled to depart from Nagpur to take the passengers to their destination, officials said.
