Five Mahayuti leaders take oath as MLCs

Since no candidates were fielded by the opposition, five candidates of the Mahayuti were elected unopposed to the Legislative Council on Tuesday.

Five leaders from ruling the Mahayuti took oath as Members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Friday.

Six candidates had applied for the by-election to five seats of the Legislative Council that were to be held on March 27. However, since the independent candidate did not have a letter of support from the MLAs and a notary, his application was rejected.

Since no candidates were fielded by the opposition, five candidates of the Mahayuti were elected unopposed to the Legislative Council on Tuesday.

Sandeep Joshi, Sanjay Kenekar and Dadarao Keche of the BJP, Shiv Sena’s Chandrakant Raghuvanshi and Sanjay Khodke of the NCP took oath as Members of the Legislative Council on Friday.

A total of five Legislative Council seats had fallen vacant after that many sitting members won the Maharashtra Assembly elections last year. Sena’s Amasha Padavi, NCP’s Rajesh Witekar, and BJP’s Pravin Datke, Gopichand Padalkar, and Ramesh Karad were the outgoing members of the council.
