First CET for admission to BBA, BMS, BCA to be held on May 29
Most colleges from Maharashtra have opposed the decision to bring these courses under AICTE and have moved court against it.

The Maharashtra CET Cell on Wednesday declared that the first ever Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to BBA, BMS, BCA, BBM in Maharashtra will be held on May 29.
Even after three extensions in deadline by the CET Cell, only 56790 candidates have registered for the test, which according to colleges, is way lower compared to the number of admissions generally confirmed in these Under-Graduate (UG) courses popular among students.
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) – which are professional UG courses are now brought under the purview of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Due to the change, admission to these courses is now through the CET as opposed to regular practice of admission based on marks obtained by aspirants in Class XII.
Most colleges from Maharashtra have opposed the decision to bring these courses under AICTE and have moved court against it. Meanwhile, colleges are also working with respective universities to change the nomenclatures of the course. “Instead of BMS, if the course is named B. Com. (Management Studies); it will be excluded from the AICTE approval mandate. Thus admissions will continue as per regular practice, instead of CET,” told the principal of a city college offering BMS, adding that many colleges are awaiting resolution and have not registered with the CET Cell for admissions.
The CET Cell on Wednesday declared revised dates for a total 8 CETs to be held for admission to various courses. CET for admission to LLB will be held on May 22. Whereas CET for nursing will be held on May 28.
