Father-son duo held with 25,000 porn CDs

Oshiwara police arrested a father-son duo and allegedly seized around 25,000 pornographic CDs, a laptop, CD writer and a hard disk.

Cops suspect the duo ran a prostitution racket out of their rented flat in Lokhandwala.

Acting on a tip-off about a prostitution racket, the Oshiwara police Thursday arrested a father-son duo from their flat in Meera Towers in Lokhandwala and allegedly seized around 25,000 pornographic CDs, a laptop, CD writer and a hard disk.

“We have arrested Samarth Mukherjee (32) and his father Chandrakant for keeping in possession such huge stock of pornographic material and selling these. They have been booked under sections of Indian Penal Code and section 66 of the IT Act,” said Nasir Pathan, senior inspector of Oshiwara police station.

According to police, Samarth is a film writer and has been living in the flat, owned by a BEST official, along with his parents and sister as tenants for the last six years.

During the raid, the police also found there a man who claimed to be a fashion designer from Delhi and a family friend of the Mukherjees. The police suspect that the father-son duo had been making pornographic videos and selling these in the southern markets since most of the videos seized are in south Indian languages.
