False alerts

It has now become almost a routine exercise as the weekend draws near,for ACP Vasant Dhoble to field queries on whether he has received transfer orders out of the city. Every week a section of Mumbai’s party-goers raise a toast when they receive text messages that Dhoble has been shunted out to a post in Pune. These anonymous alerts then spark off frenetic tweeting on the marching orders purportedly issued to the burly cop. Dhoble,who has been in the news for his crackdown on pubs and eateries in the city,is however happy to disappoint them.
