Fake currency seized,two arrested

The Tardeo police on Tuesday arrested two persons from the Haji Ali dargah for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency worth Rs 67,500.

The Tardeo police on Tuesday arrested two persons from the Haji Ali dargah for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency worth Rs 67,500. The accused,identified as Mukhtar Shaikh (26) and Debashish Das (25),hail from Jharkhand and had come to the city to work,police said. Police said the accused were nabbed after a garland vendor near the dargah called the police saying two persons had paid him counterfeit notes. “During search we found that they were in possession of fake currency worth Rs 12,000. When we searched their house in Malwani,we found more counterfeit currency worth Rs 67,500,” Patil said. The accused have been booked for forgery and other sections of the Indian Penal Code. “Investigations are on as we are trying to find the link from where they procured the money,” Patil said.
