Stating that the possibility of alliance with Prakash Ambedkar – led VBA is over for the party, state Congress president Nana Patole alleged that the BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was using VBA and Bahujan Samaj Party BSP candidates to divide opposition votes.

“We were hopeful that VBA will form an alliance with the MVA. But the issue of alliance is over now as the VBA continued with its candidates for the first phase of general elections in Maharashtra,” said Patole addressing a press conference where former MLA Dilip Mane and VBA’s Latur district chief Jagdish Mali joined the Congress.

“It has happened in 2014 and 2019. It is clear that candidates of parties like Vanchit (VBA) and Bahujan Samaj Party are working on instructions of Fadnavis. Vanchit is supporting us in Nagpur to defeat Gadkari but he is not supporting us anywhere else. Why? Is it because of BJP’s internal fight between Fadnavis and Gadkari?” asked Patole.

“The BJP is doing all this to divide votes,” he claimed.
