Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “nakli” remark about Shiv Sena UBT led by Uddhav Thackeray was apt and said that the party is only interested in the property of the late Bal Thackeray.

Addressing a gathering in Kalyan city in Thane district, Shinde emphasised the importance of genuine leadership and said, “A fake tiger (Uddhav) came to Kalyan Dombivli and was exposed. However, leadership transcends mere appearances… it embodies substance. Just as goats cloaked in tiger skins can never truly become tigers, genuine leadership defies imitation.”

The CM said, “Ram Mandir was constructed in Ayodhya. Balasaheb Thackeray would have welcomed it, yet, regrettably, Uddhav Thackeray didn’t convey his happiness. Hence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark of a fake (nakli) Shiv Sena is apt.”

Shinde’s son and sitting MP Shrikant Shinde is in the fray from Kalyan constituency. The CM also released Shrikant’s work report, titled “Development Decade — Ten Years of Progress, Prosperity of Kalyan” and praised the MP’s developmental works and dedication to the people of Kalyan.

Shinde also underscored the importance of upholding values and principle and said, “Balasaheb Thackeray’s thoughts are our wealth and opulence… The upcoming election is crucial for the nation’s progress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to propel our country towards superpower status. Shrikant Shinde is a forward-thinking leader with a vision extending 25 to 50 years ahead.”

Adding that the Muslim community in Mumbra is actively supporting development initiatives, the CM said, “According to Balasaheb Thackeray’s views, a coalition government should have been formed in 2019 by people’s votes, but Uddhav Thackeray formed the government with Congress at its helm. We acknowledged and corrected this error in 2022 by establishing a Mahayuti government.”

Criticising the Sena UBT further, Shinde said that meaningful work isn’t accomplished from the confines of home. “Our administration operates directly from the streets,” he said.
