Eight-year-old hit by two cars,suffers head injuries

An eight-year-old pavement dweller suffered injuries on his head after he was hit by two cars in Andheri on Sunday evening.

An eight-year-old pavement dweller suffered injuries on his head after he was hit by two cars in Andheri on Sunday evening. Oshiwara police officers said victim,Bittu Shaikh,was crossing the street around 7 pm when he was hit by a speeding Hyundai car.

Police said the impact of the collision was so severe that it threw Shaikh into the opposite lane where he was hit by another car. Shaikh was immediately rushed to Cooper Hospital where he is being treated for fractures he suffered on his head. Police said Shaikh had come to Mumbai two days ago along with his mother and was staying on the pavement in Millat Nagar. The drivers of both the cars have been identified and will soon be arrested for causing injury due to rash and negligent driving. No indications of drunken driving have come to light so far,the police said.
