Doctor arrested for molesting 11-yr-old

The Trombay police have arrested a 45-year-old homeopathic doctor on charges of molesting a 11 year-old girl who had come to him for treatment.

The police said the accused,Pandharinath Ramchandra Prabhu,has been running his clinic in the Maharashtra Nagar area in Mankhurd for over a decade and has been treating the girl for months. “The girl who is undergoing treatment for appendicitis is staying with her family in Mankhurd. On Thursday night around 8 pm,she had complained of pain and her mother had sent her to Prabhu,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police,Zone VI,Dilip Sawant.

“Prabhu took her inside the examining room where he molested her,” said senior inspector SB Jagtap of the Trombay police station.

The mother arrived at the clinic half an hour later when the girl told her about the doctor’s behaviour. The angry mother slapped the doctor while local residents and labourers from a nearby construction site gathered at the clinic. “We were notified about a huge crowd outside the doctor’s clinic and when a team went to probe the situation,” Jagtap said.
