BMC drives: Cleanliness drive starts Wednesday. Malaria helpline is 108. On Tuesday,more than 20,000 mosquito nets readied for slumdwellers,to be distributed through agencies such as the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industries.
Specialised ICU: For infectious diseases,in Kasturba Hospital by early next year. Will have specialised equipment including improved ventilator facilities,an advanced isolation system,with stress on waste management. Medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Dr Umesh Aigal said 10 beds proposed for the first phase. We will increase the number of beds in phases. For the moment,we are concentrating on procuring the most up-to-date facilities. BMCs Dr Sanjay Oak said,We are working on this ICU very seriously,and it should be in operation by next year.

Photo Exhibition: The MNS will hold a photo exhibition of potholes and overflowing drains in the malaria season,taking on the Shiv Sena-ruled BMC and its claims about the way it has handled the situation. MNS chief Raj Thackeray will inaugurate the exhibition in Dadar Wednesday. It is a compilation of about 150 photographs commissioned by the MNS. The exhibition will present the real picture of the roads and filth and challenge the tall claims made by the BMC. It will be the first in a series, said MLA Nitin Sardesai,who has organised the exhibition.
MIGRANTS DEBATE: Both Raj and Uddhav Thackeray have blamed migrants for the spread of malaria. In Bihar,CM Nitish Kumar said,Mumbai is not the private property of (Raj) Thackeray. Mumbai had been built by contributions from people across the country. He said the Congress was behind Rajs remarks. Gurudas Kamat,Mumbai Northwest MP,too criticised Raj Thackeray.
