Dhingra leads Hazards to victory

Catholic Gymkhana's The Shooters and PJ Hindu Gymkhana's Sultans of Hazard won their second successive home and away wins respectively in the second week of the competition

Catholic Gymkhana’s The Shooters and PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s Sultans of Hazard won their second successive home and away wins respectively in the second week of the competition on Wednesday to qualify for the knock out pre-quarter-finals of The Zarine and Yazdi Daruvala Charitable Trust Mumbai Billiards League 2012 organised by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra hosted by Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.

The Shooters had earlier beat Central Railway Mumbai Institute’s Evergreen in their opener last week,and on Wednesday overcame Mandpeshwar Civic Federation’s Rising Stars of Borivali to earn five points,including a bonus point that took their tally to 10 points in Group F.

Similarly,star-studded Sultans of Hazard beat Evergreen on Wednesday after having defeated Rising Stars last week to also earn five points for a total tally of 10. Hazards win was marked by a significant break of 80 by India sub junior number 2 and Maharashtra junior number 1 Jaiveer Dhingra,and an unfinished 75 by twice world runner-up Dhruv Sitwala.

In Group C,CCI Billiards Boys beat Khar Gymkhana’s Junior,while Matunga Gymkhana’s Mind It beat Mumbai Port Trust ‘s Reynolds Racer in home and away matches to earn five points which took their tally to seven.

Defending champions Elphinstone CC’s Baphachibhum endured a home loss against Shivaji Park Gymkhana’s Golden Eagles but avenged their defeat away to take their tally to seven points in Group A. While veteran Subhash Agrawal fired a break of 67 for Golden Eagles,Baphachibhums Arun Agrawal constructed breaks of 62 and 60.

The other significant breaks came from Chandu Kansodaria of MCF’s Tough Men who fired a 70,and Chembur Gymkhana Gladiators Vishal Madan (72,50) and Tushar Dighe (50).
