DGP seeks 15 days to probe child disappearance

The Maharashtra state Director General of Police remained present before the Bombay High Court on Wednesday and sought 15 days more for the investigation to trace the child and the absconding father.

The Maharashtra state Director General of Police remained present before the Bombay High Court on Wednesday and sought 15 days more for the investigation to trace the child and the absconding father. DGP S S Virk also apologised for not filing investigation report as per court orders earlier.

The division bench of Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice A R Joshi had summoned DGP SS Virk over his failure in submitting an investigation report in Ulhasnagar resident Preeti Chugh’s case. Her husband Bunty Chugh had allegedly fled with their four-year-old son Sujal in November 2008. The court was irked on Tuesday after it found out that the report has been filed by a DCP instead of DGP.

The judges said that this is a serious matter as tomorrow it might be our child or your child. The judges also said that sometimes they are ashamed as the court is not able to help.

“What is the use of privileges? What is the use of you being DGP and me being judge,” Justice Nazki said.

After months of investigation to trace a child and the absconding father,HC had directed the Director General of Police to file a status report on the progress of the investigation.

Priti Chug had moved HC after her husband Bunty, who is into power loom business in the city, absconded with son Sujal on November 14,2008,the day Priti was supposed to have got access of the child following earlier court orders.

Priti now fears that he might leave the country with her child as he has connections in Dubai and Germany.
