‘Deteriorating law and order’: Uddhav demands President’s rule in state after Abhishek Ghosalkar murder
"I ask the people of Maharashtra to ensure that in the same way you defeated Coronavirus, it is time to defeat the virus in power now by not voting for them," said Uddhav Thackeray

Raising doubts over the murder probe of his party member and former Mumbai corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday demanded President’s rule in Maharashtra as he claimed there was a “deteriorating law and order situation”.
“The case of Abhishek Ghosalkar’s murder is not as simple as it is made out to be. The CCTV footage of BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad’s shooting was made public without anyone asking for it. In this case, footage of bullets being fired is available but it does not show who fired the bullets. Mauris (the alleged killer who later shot himself fatally) did not have a gun but it was of his bodyguard. Did Mauris really fire the gun? Why did he kill himself later? Did somebody give a contract to kill both of them? These are the questions in our mind,” said Thackeray. He was addressing a press conference at his residence Matoshri on Saturday.
Ghosalkar was shot dead in Borivali on Thursday evening during a social media livestream allegedly by his old rival, Mauris Noronha. Last week, BJP MLA Gaikwad was arrested for allegedly firing at Shinde Sena leader Bharat Gaikwad inside a police station in Ulhasnagar.
Recounting the instances of violence in the state where a number of ruling party leaders are allegedly involved, Thackeray claimed the law and order situation in the state collapsed completely. “We demand President’s rule in the state. The government must be scrapped immediately. The case against this government is already pending in the Supreme Court and I request the Supreme Court that it should not be limited to comments now. It should give justice to Maharashtra at the earliest,” he said.
Without naming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thackeray said that everyone knew who was giving a guarantee of winning 400 seats in Lok Sabha. “You all know who has given the guarantee of crossing the 400 LS seat mark.
Bringing all goons in the fold to fulfill the guarantee seems to be the agenda. I ask the people of Maharashtra to ensure that in the same way you defeated Coronavirus, it is time to defeat the virus in power now by not voting for them.”
The former chief minister slammed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over his “insensitive” comment after the murder of Ghosalkar and the Opposition’s demand for his resignation. Fadnavis had used the word Shwan (Sanskrit word for puppy) and said the Opposition would demand the Home Minister’s resignation even if a puppy came under a car.
“Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ reaction (to Ghosalkar murder) was something which only a mentally ill patient would have. It was infuriating to say the least. The minister is expected to run his department, and if not, then the CM has to look after. But CM himself is protecting goons,” Thackeraly said.
Demanding a probe into connections of Mauris Noronha, Thackeray said, “There are photographs of former governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari felicitating Mauris. How did that happen? Did nobody check the background? Look at the photo of Mauris and Koshyari. Look who else is in the photo. It should be probed if all those in the photo have any connection to Mauris.”
