DCP transferred for a month

A Deputy Commissioner of Police was transferred for a month,ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls.

Following norms laid down by the Election Commission (EC),a Deputy Commissioner of Police was transferred for a month,ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.

Rajendra Dabade,DCP of Zone 12 which covers the area from Goregaon to Dahisar,has been transferred to the protection and security department until the BMC elections are over.

According to Chand Goel,additional state Election Commissioner,the EC had given instructions to all government departments that officers on executive duties should be transferred if their home town is in the same constituency,or if there are serious complaints against them.

“We had given the instructions,but do not have the collective data of people transferred due to the election code of conduct,” said Goel.

When contacted,DCP Nisar Tamboli,spokesperson of the Mumbai Police,said according to the procedure,DCP Dabade was transferred out of his post for a month.

“The executive officers,whose home town falls in the same constituency as their place of duty,have to be transferred,” said Tamboli.
