Sena (UBT) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve on Thursday alleged that businessman Mohit Kamboj, whom he claimed had “links with BJP”, was “exerting undue influence” over the state’s Water Resources and Water Conservation Department.
Danve alleged that no work in the department progresses without Kamboj’s approval.
“If anyone calls the department for work related to rural areas, it is Mohit Kamboj who makes the final decision,” Danve alleged while speaking in the House during a discussion on the Governor’s speech.
He further alleged that Kamboj has close ties with a senior official in the department and called for an investigation into their conversations and call detail records (CDR) to verify his claims.
“The water resources department does not move without Kamboj’s consent. Who is he to interfere in government affairs? This needs to be thoroughly investigated,” Danve stated.
He added that despite pressing issues such as paddy shortages, fodder crises, and infrastructure repairs in the state, Kamboj allegedly has the final say in key departmental decisions.
“I have evidence to back my claims, which is why I am speaking out,” Danve said.
Denying the allegations, BJP leader Prasad Lad said that Danve cannot name a private individual who is not a member of the House.
However, Danve countered, saying he was not naming any sitting members and that there is no restriction on referring to outsiders.
